There are work aprons that protect us and fancy aprons that show off our skills.   Those aprons, the Sunday ones, are wildly extravagant.
In the 16th century, the most beautiful embroidered aprons evolved into small triangular apron tops called "stomachers".   Those aprons protected the stomach, and the heart, of course. which the place of all creations.
My "stomachers" take the shape of round bellies.  They speak of work and rest, time spent, friendship, patience and the craft of slow-making.  They are crafted from linen and a magnificent remnant of vintage velvet.
